What will flow through the city?

“And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and the Lamb” (Rev 22.1).

 

 

What grows on both sides of the river?

“In the midst of its street, and on either side of the river, is the tree of life, bearing twelve fruits, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree for the healing of the nations” (v.2).

Note. By sinning, Adam lost access to the tree of life, but through Christ man will have it again. This is stated in one of the promises given to those who overcome (see Rev 2.7). The fact that this tree bears twelve kinds of fruit, each month a new fruit, helps to understand why on the new earth "from month to month, and from Sabbath to Sabbath all flesh will come" before the face of God to worship (Is 66.22-23).

 

 

What did God promise not to allow in the new earth?

“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death; there will be no more crying, no crying, no sickness; For the former things have passed away“ (Rev 21.4).

“And nothing will be cursed anymore“ (Rev 22.3).

 

 

How does Isaiah describe life in the new earth?

“Then the wolf will live with the lamb, and the leopard will lie with the kid; and the calf, and the young lion, and the ox will be together, and the little child will lead them. And the cow will graze with the bear, and their cubs will lie together; and the lion, like the ox, will eat straw. And the baby will play over the hole of the asp, and the child will stretch out his hand to the snake's nest. They will not harm or destroy in all My holy mountain: for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea” (Is 11.6-9).
