It all starts with our thoughts, which depend
on us.
We must resist the temptations of the enemy
to do something other than what God said, otherwise there is a danger of
sinking step by step to the very bottom.
Let's look at two examples that show how
this happens.
DAVID AND VIRSAVIA
- At that time there was a war, and David
should have been on the battlefield, near the front, but he preferred to be in
the royal palace.
- He was bored, and he went for a walk on
the roofs of the palace, as "there was nothing to occupy himself with".
- He saw Bathsheba and focused on it,
continuing to look at her until a bad thought was born in him.
- He ordered to bring Bathsheba to him and
sinned with her.
- Having learned that Bathsheba was
expecting a child, he decided to hide his crime, to ensure that Uriah, being in
Jerusalem, would enter her at least once, but David did not succeed.
- As the war continued, David sent his
orders to Uriah to certain death in order to hide what he had done and take
Bathsheba as his wife. The goal was fully achieved, and David became the
assassin.
BOOK "AMERICAN TRAGEDY"
The story of another man who did not receive
forgiveness, unlike David
Clyde Griffitz, the son of a preacher, was a
decent and pleasant man. After leaving school, he chose not the best place for
work - as a servant in a hotel for the rich.
- Having got into an independent life for
the first time, he remained silent when one of his new workmates began to scoff
at his faith.
By making a lot of money and getting a lot
of tips, he became greedy.
- Once he gave in to the offer of friends to
visit a brothel with them and spend the money he earned, and this happened more
than once, which affected his habits and character.
- Once in a noisy company, where he was
having fun with friends, he got into an accident in which the girl who was in
the car died. Frightened by responsibility, Clyde simply fled from the scene,
and then from the city.
- In a small town near Chicago, he gets a
decent job for his uncle, the owner of a factory, but in a workshop where there
are only women, and he breaks the ban not to have an affair with anyone when he
starts courting a new worker, Roberta.
- He instills in her habits that are alien
to her, because she is from a very strict and religious family.
- He persuades her to cohabitation.
- When it turns out that Roberta is in a
position, Clyde turns out not only to marry her, but even to help her, because
he is now a secular man and found himself a profitable and rich bride, and he
did not need the publicity of what happened.
- When Roberta threatened to tell everyone
what he did, Clyde decides to get rid of her. By inviting her to ride a boat on
the lake, he drowns her, acting out an accident, and becomes a murderer who was
punished for his act, but only because the prosecutor personally needed this
process.
Conclusion: in order not to get into such a story, we should not take off our armor, keep our faith and not be ashamed of it, and most importantly, we should not take the first step in the direction in which the last may be, in other words, no indulgences and concessions.
