God
made a Covenant with Israel at Horeb - the Covenant that he made with his father:
"the Lord our God has set us a testament to Horeb; not with our fathers
put Lord Covenant, but with us here today, alive ( Deut 5.2-3 ).
The
conditions were as follows:
-
Israel must be the voice of God: to obey the law, that said by His voice ( Ex
19.5, Deut 4.12-13, Ex 20.1-17 )
-
He had to maintain a Covenant - Covenant of peace, which is the sin of the human century
( Ex 19.5, Rom 11.27 )
God
has promised that Israel will be a Kingdom of priests and a Holy nation ( Ex
19.6 ). Israel promised to respect
it ( Ex 19.7-8 ).
After
God gave the ten commandments and statutes, that bequeathed in Exodus 20.18-26 and chapters 21-22-23, they were given to Moses, who said
them out loud, and Israel again promised to perform them ( Ex 24.3 ).
All
but the Ten Commandments (in stone), was recorded in a book and is read through
to Israel, and when the latter agreed to all this, the Covenant was signed and
affixed with blood ( Ex 24.4-8, Heb 9.18-20 ).
Most
of Israel entered into this Covenant as non-turned, because of this he has
become a burden and yoke, and they soon had violated it, have given way to
idolatry ( Gal 4.24, Jer 31.31-34, Ex
32.1-8 ).
Therefore God promised a new Covenant with Israel ( Jeremiah 31.31-34 ).
