"Do it yourself Ark... the length of
the Ark three hundred cubits; its width fifty cubits, and its
height thirty cubits" (Genesis 6.14-15).
"There were Giants on the Earth. This strong since the
glorious people" (v.4).
It turns out that our usual idea of the
size of Noah's Ark is not quite correct.
An ancient unit of length measurement - elbow is
the approximate distance from tip of middle finger to
the elbow extended adult human and is about half a
meter. The dimensions of the Ark in meters referred to in
the Bible, therefore, 150x25x15.
However, in another text says about the
"giants" who inhabited the land. The fact is that
the people of the world were antediluvian in two or
more times higher us growth. This is confirmed by the
skeletons of 3-4 m height and growth found in different places of the
world. Size of animals, too, were somewhat different.
Therefore, the elbow (like the
English yard) supposedly defined anthropometric data
and could be, for example, twice, that is, the
dimensions of the Ark of 300x50x30 meters.
And it is more than the famous "Titanic",
which was long 259.83 m, width 28.19 m, height 55 m (from keel to top
of pipe) and 19 m (from the waterline up to the boat deck).
We know that :
- In the Ark was
only 8 people
- Many animals can live in water
We can assume that :
- Were taken only the main types
of animals
- Not all animals were of enormous size
- Some of them are taken not
in adulthood or their eggs
